Raise One for Benjamin I 90 Years On

90 years on, Tasmania still remembers.

On 7 September 2026, Tasmania will mark 90 years since the death of Benjamin, the last known thylacine, at Beaumaris Zoo.

This September, we’re inviting people, venues and communities across Tassie to come together in remembrance. The Tassie tiger may have disappeared from our landscape, but never from our stories, our identity or our collective memory.

Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing more about Benjamin’s story, the history of the thylacine, the meaning behind Thirsty Tiger Beaumaris Brown Ale and the venues taking part across Tasmania.
